NATURAL TREATMENT OF MIGRAINES
A WHOLISTIC APPROACH TO MIGRAINE CAUSE
Each individual has their own unique history and genetic makeup. A genetic test to determine if you have the MTHFR mutation and if so, which one(s) can be very helpful in determining a more personalized plan of action. Restore Me is designed to help consumers with or without that knowledge. One doesn’t have to have a MTHFR mutation to have a deficiency of a vitamin. Restore Me has the necessary vitamins and minerals you need to influence and maintain key biochemical functions of your body..
This information is provided as a general guide and is meant to be educational. This information may be helpful to you in making supplement choices and/or can help prepare you for a consult with your Health Care Professional (HCP).
Impact of the MTHFR Mutation:
Some migraines can be traced back to a genetic explanation or root cause. To understand how this works, a simple understanding of why folate is important in your diet and supplementation will become more apparent. So, we will look at the two together: folate and its importance within your diet and what happens when a genetic mutation interferes with the capacity of your body’s metabolic system to break it down into useable parts.
NOTE: Folic acid requires several activation steps before it can be used by cells. The Bioactive supplement, 5-methyltetrahydrofolate (5-MTHF), is equivalent to the active form of folate used by the body. Unlike ordinary folic acid supplements, it is unaffected by the MTHFR variant genotype and requires no conversion or activation. METHYLFOLATE DIAGRAM
ADVANTAGES OF BIOACTIVE FOLATE (5- MTHF)
Somewhere between 30-45% of the population have a mutated MTHFR gene. These mutations affect every person differently leading to different gradients of symptoms. The MTHFR gene is responsible for converting vitamin B9 (folic acid) into the more usable form, methyfolate. Those persons with this mutated gene will produce 30 to 70% less methyl-folate. If either parent or grandparents suffered from migraines and you do too, chances are all of you have or had this mutation. It is estimated that 1-3% of persons with this mutated gene will produce significantly less methyl-folate which can lead to varying degrees of healthcare problems. If either parent or grandparents suffered from migraines and you do too, chances are these migraines are genetically “programmed” to you. When MTHFR mutations are more disruptive, migraines can be one of the resulting healthcare problems.
Magnesium and vitamin B deficiencies, melatonin imbalances, gluten allergies, and hormonal imbalances can all contribute to migraines. Restore me contains the essential vitamins and supplements that lessen the severity and frequency of your migraines or frequent headaches.
